Is it only Tuesday

Wow what a week and a bit, it all started last week, when we had the week from hell.  After our usually two weekly meeting at the Job Centre it has now been decided that since we have been unable to secure work for the last 3 months we now need to have extra help finding work – with no consideration on the number of jobs applied for, the number of successful encounters this has made with agencies or prospectus employers alike.  We have now been advised that for the next 6 weeks we must go down weekly and show our weekly turnaround and potential start to accept a wage at a minimum level, which I quickly disavowed on the basis that I am have been working since I was 13, in one capcity or another either delivering papers, or shop assistant and will not be told now, two degrees on and 11 years in the working arena what salary I am suitable to request from an employee.  After firmly but politely showing the JSA Advisor the error of his ways and then listening to him getting a polite but firm rebuttal and telling off from his superior, I was deemed one to the man on the street 0 to the JSA.  However considered to lower my minimum salary down to 23k but only if it was on my doorstep ie walking distance to walk, otherwise the salary would be meaningless.  What was more impressive about this day was that both he and his computer equipment remained intact.

That evening my partner had resolved to celebrate his birthday and valentines with a meal out at
tiger green brasserie, which is attached to the Hilton, after purchasing a a meal deal for two from London Zoo at £49 for the entire meal excluding wine and gratis.  The meal itself was faultless, filling and satisfying.  Personally I would have found 2 courses more than sufficient, as I struggled with the third and felt overly full afterwards.  However was a little disappointed with several things at the night out, one I wanted the scallops but they were served with a coriander and cumin sauce, however when requested if it was possible to have without the coriander was advised this was not possible as they were already were spiced and prepared and this was not an option.  I think went for the spicy chicken salad with mange tout, and although devine, I could find no mange tout on the plate.  This was then followed by a pork and mushroom sauce with a garlic mash.  This was faultless in every count, the pork was just cooked off medium to well done with a little pinkness inside making it melt in your mouth tender, the mash and the mushrooms heaven.  Dessert was a rich chocolate tart and although dark and rich it lacked the bitterness I was expecting, which was heavenly, creamy and smooth and very light.  I suspect by the enjoyable sounds coming from my other half his was just as a delightful.  All of this was washed down with a bottle of Chablis yummy.  At the end of the service we received a repeat voucher to go again before the end of December, and it may be something which we will very well put good use to.  My only concern with the evening outside of this was not the level of service nor the standards of the sommelier nor the Maitre D’ but the general staff seemed to have forgotten basic serving etiquette of your serve from the right and collect from the left.  Outside of this a very pleasant end to a trying afternoon.

The next day I was supposed to be attending an interview but was struck down with a migraine and so spent most of the next day in bed suffering terribly with the afflication and feeling slightly worse for wear and sorry for myself.  Thankfully my darling other half re-scheduled my appointments for me, which has meant that this week has become somewhat choatic to say the least.

Yesterday was day one of the Interview week, the first one was for a maternity cover contract role which seemed to go really well and I have had exceptional feedback from the company in relation to this but as of yet no decision, which is not expected until towards the end of this week.  I also received at last feedback from another interview with Cookson electronics today, an interview which I had attended a few weeks ago only to be told my only reason for not securing the position was that the individual who did had worked in that specific industry.  A very frustrating but enlightening feeling to discover that I can make a decision hard for people to make against myself and someone else.

Aside from that I have now had one of the postponed interviews today with an airlines trade unionst position for a regulations compliance advisor, which of itself was a demanding role and unfortuantely in this instance I do not feel so positive about this position or securing the role, but time will tell, again feedback expected at the end of the week.  Coming out of the interview I had several missed calls all job related.  Office Angels in Croyden are looking to re-vamp me up and pimp me out to potential employers aagain and so we shall see how positive this goes, Source 4 rang in relation to an immediate start temporary position with a going rate of £17ph, and a throw away JSA role wants to interview me on Thursday.

I arrived back at the flat frustrated after the interview today, realising that somewhere in my head I had decided the the capital of Iceland had got bored and moved to Finland so I dont hold out much hope there, although I did get the capital of Albania right with Tirana.  I arrived home to start prepping for my agency meet tomorrow and interview for office manager in Uxbridge tomorrow.

I also at some point tomorrow need to fit in a call to the JSA to advice and re-schedule my sign on day or arrange to go in early or late tomorrow.  Thursday is now fully booked with a double interview with one in Richmond, and one for SCC where both my partner and I are going head to head on the role, so tomorrow evening will be exceptionally busy with preparation for two interviews in one go going ahead.

One thinks that one Friday I will be collapsing in a heap and hoepfully reaping the rewards of a busy week and awaiting the signing of a job contract hopefully for a permenant position – but I guess only time will tell and I cant change the past or the present – one can only really focus on the here and now and everything else will take care of itself

So I will leave you to absorb this information and relax into your evening as I now switch off to enjoy the food that my partner has delicately prepared for home made burgers and chips yummmy

Enjoy the rest of your week and I will catch up with you later

Wedding Update

For those of you who follow my updates on FB, you will knwo that plans for our wedding is going well, and merging this with my partners brother later this year budgets are going decidedly well thank goodness

Updates on Partners brothers’ wedding in that venue for sleep for Friday and Saturday night are now sorted – woo hoo and we dont have to pay for that or deposit it until we arrive on the Friday night – which incidentally is my own parents Wedding anniversary.  I am still in the hunt for a new frock for this event, but nothing that has been cost effective or particularly nice to worth the buy so the hunt continues.

However we have budgeted and purchased wedding presents; woo hoo so one wedding down two to go- ours and my cousins.  Still awaiting confirmation on when the re-scheduled date is

On our wedding front- we have the venue booked and deposit paid for.  Invites are mostly prepared except for the last section which is the front cover and these will be getting done shortly and then ready for postage.  Table design – name places have been set up and sorted and approved so these will be getting put together soon and placed in the wedding boc for transportation to the event.  Table decorations bought and all done up except one, need a little bit more of the sticky mini bling to go onto it and then done.  Although my step-daughter came up with a great idea for the other two of wrapping Teal ribbon around the stem or bowing them to break up the colour intensity of the Ivory on the day.  We also have a fire stack holder of Tee-lights in Ivory too for on top of the fire place.  So they are all just about done woo hoo.

Wedding dress, shoes, veil and Tiara bought and is in shop ready for fitting so appropriate underwear purchased yesterday to organise the required fitting.  Bridesmaids dresses, shoes and hair wear all bought too – their arrival will be in June

Suit for Groom bought along with Cravats with father of the bride, ushers and best man

Wedding insurance bought

Rings bought

Registrar booked – await absolut to give notice.

Favours are still needed and under debate as to whether we can afford them or not.  Flowers for myself and the maids – we may travel back to where we bought the table decorations as they did some nice artificial bouquets for a good price and then merge mine with other options of flowers but again open for discussion at the moment.  Photography is just something we cannot afford and so unless a miracle happens we will not be having one, but instead we will use that of the everyone who turned up for the day and use their images to make albumns to send out as thank yous’ etc.  Thank you gifts again open pending on costs and affordability of being able to do so.  Cars for travel between ceremony and venue not needed as all in one place yippee.  Wedding cake- I am baking muffins and wedding mffins specifically for those who want them to take down with me the day before

Hen and Stag do – god knows what is happening here at the moment it may be not going to happen affair but we shall see all in all.  Maybe a miracle will arrive and both my partner and I will secure a job which will enable us to get all the little things that we are unsure about at the moment.

But ultimately I am pleased to report all is going well, within budget and is not costing us massive amounts, it is hoped that everything will come in just under the £10k mark.  Here is hoping.

Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday and a further update will be coming your way in the next month or so

I can see from the last few days that my story has been a popular success on reviews, I would however like some feedback if people would like to read more of the stories and ideas that I have, or if they would liek to see them fleshed out into something more concrete

Any feedback here would be very much appreciated.

For those who would like to just read more please feel free to look at my Deviant art page where more of my works can be found – a link to my gallery is below

Not much else to say tonight apart from that really as it is late and a little fatigue so off to bed and hopefully pick up some more writings in the next few days and might even focus more on my Ghost in the Machine story or the Lake, let us see how the mood takes us really, I should think

Well I have been looking through my writing work today and have been trying to decide if I should send some of it into magazines  so that it can be printed as short stories or tea time teaser breaks.

Opinions would be much appreciated

The one  that triggered this thought was the one below – which is currently unnamed but I may go with the name of the butterfly and the cane

It is an urban fantasy ideal and can work as a short I think or as part of a longer prose and it may be one of those that I will develop at a later date.

Any way your feedback and ideas would be much appreciated on this matter, so sit back read and enjoy.  Please note that this is still a WIP and I appreciate some work on grammar and structure is still needed

The Butterfly and the Cane

The alley was dark and unobtrusive to the naked eye.  Nothing would have caught the ordinary person’s eye unless you were particularly looking for it.  Under one of the stone archways was a twinkling, of lights and stars like dust caught in a sunbeam, or that imagery within a cartoon, where a character has been knocked out.  From the top of the alleyway, walked a man in a long evening cape and tall top hat more suited to that of Victorian England than modern day 2012.  However his notice and appearance went unnoticed by the passersby on the street above.  His cane echoed hollowly off the walls around the alleyway and provided a third step to his gaiety walk.  He wandered down to the covered part of the archway where the lights were twinkling

“Ah there you are” He said

“Come down, we need to talk”

The lights twinkled and danced and formed a colourless yellow formation of a girl in front of him.  The girl had long hair and was of slender built and was wearing a long dress, more commonly associated with the images of medieval England.

“What is this I hear you have been up to?”

“What father?”

“How about this then, why are you hiding?”

“It is not intentional, but you know how the modern world scares me.  I fear for our safety and how much resonance we still have in the world as it stands today”

The man sighed.  He put his hand inside of his cape and pulled out what looked like a flat piece of cloth, gave it a quick shake and it folded itself out into a pouf.  He lent himself against his cane and rested himself against it.  “My dear, come here”

“The world will always evolve and there will be times when we appear far from its mind and times when we are close at hand.  But you know there are always friends of ours, who see and know of us, whether they are aware or not.  It is through these people that we will continue to live and reside and be strong”

“I know this, but I don’t know why it scares me so.  It feels so different this time, as if there is darkness out there, a darkness which is covering their minds, their ability to see or hear anything which is not of their world or of immediate access to themselves”

The man sighed. The problem was he knew his daughter spoke of a long forgotten truth, a truth which only a handful of our kind could see or speak of.  Her words were chilling to hear but the truth they must be.  It was part of the reason she choose hidden dark recess’ to hide, for it were not only the world which scared her but the truth which she feared that would come.

They just sat there for some time in silence, letting the world pass them by before her father spoke again.  “I can’t change what you see, or what you feel, but hiding from it never changes anything, if anything it normally escalates the situation” No sooner had the words left his mouth than a hollow and cold cackle wound itself around the streets and down the alleyway, to any number of the streets, outside of the alley it would appear as a cold rush of wind forcing them to pull their coats tighter about themselves.  A golden shard of light fell from his daughters face as she faded and was pulled by an unseen source from her father’s hand.  “I love you and have faith in you” he said

“And I you she responded” as all that were left were wisps of mists were she once stood and sat.  The man sat up folded up his stool and placed it back inside his cape and continued on his walk down the alleyway to a little known cafe where he could sit relax and be accepted for what he was.

Some five minutes later he was sat outside the cafe with a cup of what appeared to be watery honey in front of him with warm steam rising from the mug.  He asked to see a copy of the local papers and flicked through them ideally for the meetings and events section.  There it was, just as he had expected it to be.  The flutter of a butterfly come and sat beside him as he read the article in depth, and re-reading it until he could memorise every word of that which had passed.  He knew he was never to see his daughter again but at least now she was safe. He thanked the cafe owner in the usual manner with a smile and a tip of his hat, and under the paper he left his usual payment by way of a favour and a need for the owner, with the short note of Thank you and God bless.  As he walked away his persona changed, his clothes become shabby like that of a street urchin, his shoes become worn and thin, and his hair thinned and became scraggly and his demeanour became slouched and decrepit.  He continued his walk until he reached the river.  Somewhere behind him were shouts, but he ignored them and continued to walk.  He walked straight through the metal barriers and out into the sea.  People ran to the end to try and see if they could see him, but nothing was to be found but a single butterfly wing resting on a black cane.
